The Emberá people of Colombia's Chocó rainforest have used golden poison frogs to tip blowgun darts for centuries — hence the name 'poison dart frog.' The darts retain their potency for over a year.
Remarkably, golden poison frogs born and raised in captivity are completely non-toxic. Their toxins come entirely from the specific ants, beetles, and millipedes they eat in the wild — a diet impossible to replicate in captivity.
